May or September?

Hello, I'm hoping to get some advice from the travel experts here. My wife and I are considering a spur-of-the-moment trip to England in May. We are also thinking of scheduling the trip for September instead. Which month would be better for weather and crowds? What has your overall experience been there in those two months?

All advice is appreciated. Thanks,
Sam

Those are our two favorite months to visit the UK. We like them equally as far as weather goes, and crowds seem about the same. May does offer longer days, especially later in the month, which makes for really pleasant walking around in the evening. And the parks are full of flowers.

Either works. Airfare may be less expensive for September since it’s further out.

Avoid the last week of May as that has a bank holiday and also is half term week for schools.
