We are arriving in England on Saturday, May 24th so will be there over the May Bank Holiday on May 26th. We were planning to go directly to Bath first and end in York before touring London, but we could change that around. Would it be better for crowds and easier to find accommodations over that holiday weekend in Bath or York?
My advice would be to see York on the bank holiday. The reason is they can both get busy but bath probably gets busier and is more compact with the tourist stuff literally within a few streets of each other. York is more spread out and being up north doesn't suffer as much of the normal tourist onslaught . Plus if York is bust there is masses and masses of stuff to see in the surrounding area! Other posts are correct you need to book now. York will probably have more availability than bath at any time of year. How are you travelling train or car?
We are traveling by train to either Bath or York, but will get a car once we get to either place. Does that matter?
No it doesn't just wondering if you were stopping off enroute. And driving in the Yorkshire dales is fantastic! I live about an hour from York so if you need any other info let me know.
Thanks so much for the information. We will switch things around and start in York. The Yorkshire dales sound great and we would love to see everything, but there is only so much time. We'll see if we can make that happen. Thanks again.
