Here is the BBC News Article-

The same companies as the other strike days, just a different union.
It's just malicious conduct by the unions.

I'm personally impacted now on May 13.
I am meant to be going south to Manchester, only to go back north to Glasgow. For me this one is deeply personal. I was going to Manchester, on what is my late Mum's birthday, to visit the grave of her bridesmaid. I've been trying to get there since December, repeatedly stymied by these strikes. Instead I am more than likely going to have to spend the entire day, something like 10 to 11 hours going to Manchester on a series of local buses, arrive too late to get into Southern Cemetery, then turn straight back to Glasgow for the red eye coach to the Highland Games next day.
I know now there will be no trains on my local line. Then a very basic service on Avanti to Preston, then every 2 hours Preston to Manchester on Trans Pennine.
What was going to be a great trip turns into a flipping waste of time endurance test.

I’m not from the UK.

I wondering if anyone can explain in simple terms the rail strike situation. I understand the union wants more money, but haven’t these strikes been going on for a long time? Will or has government intervened? Are the rail services considered “essential services”, meaning where I live that government can legislate them back to work?

Just trying to understand…..
