Mawgan Porth

Anybody been to this stop in Cornwall yet? It seems like there is not much there, in contrast to Penzance, which is where the southern England tour used to go. Thanks for any info. Just wondering what to expect.

There isn’t really much there except a very beautiful beach and a couple of hotels. It’s a nice place to go to relax and take in the views or go for a stroll along the beach. I’m sure there’ll be some other walks you do in the area as well.

It is a small village on the coast with some facilities and an excellent beach. It has one wonderful hotel, the Scarlet, but I'm pretty sure that the tours won't be using that. There is of course good walking along the coast - the whole coastline of Devon and Cornwall has a long distance footpath along it.

I would assume if you're on the Southern England tour, that you won't have a lot of spare time there anyway.

We recently stayed there on our South England tour. Stayed at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel - ugly from the outside, very nice rooms inside, and fabulous breakfast buffet. We had an amazing dinner on our own in the dining room overlooking the sea, watching the surfers and the sunset. (Make reservations for a good table.) They also had a spa but you definitely have to book days ahead. There was no other place to eat real close, but several good spots in town down by the beach, which was about a 15 min walk downhill to eat, then hike or taxi back up to the hotel. The hotel is a convenient tour bus ride away from Padstow. One evening we also had a lovely walk along the cliff path from cream tea back to the hotel.
