Manchester to London Train

This rail strike is making me nervous! Hoping they resolve it satisfactorily soon for everyone involved. Late July my wife and I will take the train from Manchester to London and wondering if there is a benefit to book now versus closer to departure (mostly price-wise I'm thinking)?

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency London-The Churchill, so not sure if the trains from Manchester all funnel through one station or not, but will need to find our way there after the train.

Thanks for input on this topic! :-)

Direct trains from Manchester arrive at Euston Station. Closest tube station to your hotel is Marble Arch. Looks like you take the Northern Line from Euston Station to Tottenham Court Rd and switch to the Central Line to Marble Arch.

Oh, and yes, I’d book now if you can commit to a specific train. Advance fares can be as low as £25 but you have to be on that exact train.

I've done this route a few times.

As of today, no more strikes have been called. By law, the union must give two weeks notice of any strike action. If there should be a strike on your travel day, and your train is canceled, there are flights between Manchester and London. (If your train is cancelled, and they can't get you to London within a few hours of your arrival time, you get a full refund even on non-refundable tickets.)

Booking now will save you money.

As for getting to your hotel in London, forget the tube. It's a hassle. Instead, take the number 30 bus which you get in front of Euston (Stand H) and it drops you a block from your hotel.

Or just take a taxi. It's not that far. It's just under 2 miles via automobile.

Thanks all! I’m going to hop on today and check prices and hopefully book. We will be there end of July so hoping no strikes announced during that window! Thanks also for tips to get to the hotel.
