Manchester Music Tour advice?

Hi,
I'll be in Manchester briefly this summer with my husband who is a big Joy Division fan. We'll be there on Thursday night August 1-Friday August 2, leaving for Carlisle on Saturday morning for one day before heading to Glasgow. So far, all the guided music tours of Manchester that I've seen available in the summer are on Saturdays, except one company that does them multiple days a week - except for the week when we'll be in town!

Does anyone here know if these companies will have more dates available later on, or if not, any suggestions for good self-guided walking-tours to the Manchester music scene of the 1980s ? I also tried looking for a guide for a private tour on a Friday, but haven't seen anything within our price range yet.

Have you tried asking Manchester Music tours? They do suggest that they do private tours although the website just says to contact them.

Hi - my trip isn't until April so can't actually give you a review yet, but we were running into the same problem for our dates. I was able to book with https://manchestertaxitours.co.uk/. John (owner & guide) has been excellent to communicate with so far, and all his reviews are really good. It is a private taxi tour, so of course you pay for that, but seems like he tailors it to your wants and needs. For our date in April he is charging £60.00 per hour.
