Manchester Airport - New Private Terminal for passengers of all airlines

Manchester Airport now (as of yesterday, 4 November 2024) has a new private air terminal called Aether available to passengers of all airlines (even budget carriers such as Ryanair).

The service includes a chauffeur driven car from the terminal to your aircraft.

The cost ranges from £70 (cabin bag only) to £170 with checked bags. Non travelling guests can also enjoy the lounge in the terminal with you for £40.

Check in time is just 70 minutes at this terminal.

An experience which may appeal to some.

my first thought was to check the calendar to see if we had suddenly jumped to April

I can't imagine chauffeur driven limos weaving in and out of a major airport's taxiways and runways to convey a show-off or celebrity (and Stuart) to the foot of a Ryanair boarding stairs.

But, I 'spose, to each their own.

It operated for a few months prior to Covid under the name of PremiAir. Not the best time to have launched such a service I guess. Taken a while to come back as well.

I spoke to my son this evening about this. He works at MAN. He was pretty sure that the vast majority of not all airlines will expect travellers to be delivered to the relevant terminal gate rather than any aircraft steps.

Nevertheless we both agree that there should be a market for this service, as long as the food, drink and service offering matches the advertising. Plenty of people are willing to pay reasonable amounts to get access to lounges already. I can imagine enough people wanting to treat themselves to make it worthwhile.
