Mamma Mia....Trenitalia to run UK trains

A new partnership has been announced for UK west coast trains that includes Trenitalia, the operators of rail service in Italy. It's part of a partnership and they already operate some trains in other parts of the UK.

As long as they get rid of the talking toilets I'll be happy!

To fill out the bargain, let's let the UK take over Italian cooking.

Mama Mia!!!! Don't even joke about it. I don't want to go to Italy, look at a menu and see Bangers and Risotto.

Actually, bangers and a pearl barley (or spelt) risotto is an unctious delight!

Oh dear, I read too quickly and thought it said Trenitalia to 'ruin' UK trains!

When we were "very lucky" they were sponsored by some random movie and we had Will Ferrell banging on for ages.

Yikes! That sounds like an excellent way to exacerbate shy bladder syndrome.

They needed a talking toilet because when the new trains were introduced with electronic doors, people would shut the door, start doing their business and someone would come to use the toilet and the door would open. People did not realise that they had to press the lock button in addition to the close button.

Interesting. I’m a big fan of Virgin Trains. Although I’ve read good things about Tren Italia.

This is certainly an interesting development. Trenitalia already has partnerships with SBB and others, so I guess this isn't unusual. I only glanced through the article so not sure if they plan on introducing electrified high speed service on those routes?

“Oh dear, I read too quickly and thought it said Trenitalia to 'ruin' UK trains!” - You did read too quickly, Laurie Beth, but you may end up being right in the end.

Keeping with an Italian theme, I quite like the idea of Joe Pesci, a la Goodfellas, becoming the voice of the talking toilet. I’d never leave the room.
