I will be traveling from Portsmouth to Hampton Court on a weekday at 7am, should I expect heavy traffic of just normal sluggish rush hour? I am allowing 3 hours for the journey.

Why not the A3 and that little cut after you're inside the ring, which is a good bit shorter?
Either way, three would be generous.

It used to be my standard route and I was completely happy with it since it beat the M3 by twenty or thirty minutes -- but I didn't have the exact final destination as you.
