Lunch spots near Gatwick?

We have a 7-hour layover at Gatwick before flying back to the U.S. Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere perhaps a taxi ride away we could run off to for lunch? There's only so much airport shopping one can do...

We ate at the Six Bells in Horley several times and thought it was very good and only about 3.to 4 miles from Gatwick. Very historic restaurant. Good !uck.

Thanks so much for the replies - both menus look good! Are there shops or a walkable town around either one?

The Farmhouse is in a country residential area-think lush green, country roads. It is near a beautiful old English hotel called Langshott Manor where we stayed before flying onto Portugal. We choose The Farmhouse because the weather was great and they have a large outdoor area with tables. We shared that with young Mom’s having a brew while the kids played on the playground (trying to get that going here, so far no luck) and with folks holding a wake where we were invited to share in the spread (RIP Sid). From The Farmhouse to Horley where the shops are is a 15 minute walk. But temper your expectations-people live and work here, it’s not a tourist center. So if you need soap or a new toilet seat you’re in luck. Fancy doilies, not so much. Whatever you choose keep in mind that a 7 hour layover, while it seems like a lot of time, can be consumed quickly. You have to enter the UK, ground transport, have your lunch, get back three hours before departure, clear security. Don’t risk missing your flight!

No worries - we weren't thinking of any major sightseeing or shopping, since this will be on the return leg of our 2-week trip to Scotland. We were just hoping to escape the airport for a little while before sitting on a plane for 9+ hours.
