Looking for good lunch options near Westminster and Parliament that are relatively inexpensive. Thank you.
There are a couple sandwich shops nearby, but the question is somewhat generic. What type place are you looking for, sit down, take-away, inexpensive, etc. There’s a Pret A Manger (mainly sandwiches), Itsu, The Cinnamon Club, Ma La Sichuan, etc. You can always go to the Tesco Express and buy lunch items from it and go eat where you’d like. Google maps shows a number of restaurants within a short walk of Parliament.
Red Lion pub on Whitehall.
have a walk to the Regency Cafe
Thank you everyone for the replies.
I heard the Laughing Halibut is near Westminster and has good fish and chips!
Go to a Sainsbury Local and pick up a £3 meal deal for a sandwich, drink (bottle of water or soft drink) and some fruit. Then eat it as a picnic anywhere you like. This is what I did several times earlier this week to eat inexpensively and it was such fun. Or look for a Tesco Express for something similar.
I usually try to avoid eating around Westminister and Parliament as they are fairly pricey. My go to source for good food in London (and elsewhere is Eater). Here is the link to what they recommended, some like Sutton Ground Market, Ma La Sichuan, and Regency Cafe all have lunch options under 10 pounds: https://london.eater.com/maps/best-restaurants-westminster-parliament-london.
I second the Laughing Halibut. Excellent fish and chips, and there are loads of food stalls in Strutton Ground. It's about 10 mins from Westminster Station.
Ah yes, a Steak Bake from Greggs, definitely a guilty pleasure. The ingredients provenance may be a bit dubious and I'm sure palm oil pays a feature (but it's difficult to find an ingredient list online) but sometimes Greggs will satisfy a gap that few other things can and at such a price.
My husband and I have eaten at Wesley’s Cafe which is in the basement of Central Hall Westminster, just across the street from Westminster Abbey. The cafe serves cold and hot meals in a quiet area that is a great place to unwind and catch your breath. The food is tasty and the prices are moderate and seating is plentiful. Clean toilet facilities are available.
Easiest question I’ve answered on this forum. Try the Fullers Pie and Ale House, it’s a pub attached to the Sanctuary Hotel. 5 minute walk from Parliament. Very good, and filling food. The beers are excellent as well.
