Luggage storage at Paddington

Paddington luggage storage gets a lot of complaints because the lines can be long at times as the station is terminus for the Heathrow Express train. You can get around this by making a reservation via the site and use the express lane (additional cost). But overall it's an awesome service.

There is a big difference between reputable - won't steal your stuff or give it to the wrong person - and slow.

Why are they slow? Because they check carefully that your left luggage is safe to store and won't blow up. They do similar security checks as you get in an airport to the bags before they accept them, then they make sure that they can positively identify the piece(s) and you so that when you return they can let you have exactly what is yours.

Because the Excess Baggage Company doesn't hire enough staff and/or doesn't have enough equipment to scan their customer's luggage in a timely manner. Since they're essentially have a monopoly they have little motivation to be customercentric. Therefore the bad reviews are justified.

We booked our reservation for luggage storage at Paddington before we left the US and had our printed reservation with us when we arrived. We got there at about 745 am and walked right up to the counter. All of our bags went through security, they were ticketed, and off we went. It took less than 5 minutes. Picked them up before our deadline and again, took less than 5 minutes. Friendly staff, easy to use, and no lines whatsoever. Would use again! :)
