Lucy Worsley's 12 Days of Tudor Christmas--PBS Dec. 20, 8 PM Central time

A program coming up on PBS that many of you in the USA may enjoy is Lucy Worsley's 12 Days of Tudor Christmas. It airs in my area on Dec. 20, at 8 PM Central time, Channel 8 Nashville. Check your local listings for this one, or watch using Passport.
It's a repeat, as our local PBS station shows it every Christmas.

It's a great explanation of some Christmas traditions that originated in Tudor England.
Most enjoyable!

Thanks for the notification, Rebecca. The Nebraska PBS station we can get is showing it at 9PM Central Time, and one of the two Denver stations is showing it, at 8PM Mountain Time, so it’ll be showing here simultaneously. I’d never seen, nor heard of that episode, even if it’s been a Christmas staple for some time. Wonder if Figgy Pudding factors in to the show, on any level? We’ll see!

Cyn, there is cooking involved. They show a Tudor kitchen--probably filmed at Hampton Court kitchens. They prepare a pie that contains mostly suet (beef fat) and spices. It was supposedly a favorite of Henry VIII's. Not very healthy or appetizing food.
Joe,
I hope you guys enjoy the show! Lucy's shows are always the best!

I was going to mention that y'tube is full of Lucy programs of all makes and models, and don't forget there is a PBS app on Roku that sometimes has access to programs. Such as Samantha Brown's most recent travel series, if you haven't seen it.

Lucy always strikes us as either deliberately being as serious as a doctoral candidate OR about to take you into her confidence with the funniest goddamn quip you've heard in years.
Gotta love that attitude!

Hey gregglamarsh, Lucy is definitely serious about English history.
She holds a BA degree in English history from Oxford, and a DPhil degree from the University of Sussex.
She is Dr. Lucy Worsley.
She is chief curator at Historic Royal Palaces, responsible for maintaining the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace State Apartments, the Banqueting House in Whitehall and Kew Palace in Kew Gardens.

So next time you see an exhibit at one of those places that you think is extraordinarily well-done, thank Lucy.

She has written many books about English history, and has produced dozens of TV programs about English history.

And yes, her great sense of humor adds to the programs from time to time.
