Loose Meds going thru airport Security

Supposedly all meds in carry-ons going thru security must be in their original labeled bottles. Is this still (or strictly) enforced?
(I would carry them in one of those plastic day-by-day containers).

If it's still the law, then I would recommend following it. (Official statement. ;-)

That said, my husband carries his "airplane pills" (anxiety meds), blood pressure and gout meds in a weird assortment of old snuff boxes and plastic bottles, and no one has ever said anything when we are flying from the States to western Europe or back again. Never. Ever.

It has never been Law or Policy of the TSA. You can carry your meds however you like. It is more important that you have the medical INFORMATION about the pills you take- not for TSA or anyone else, but in case you have a medical emergency or other issue and need the proper info. I have a form I created with the info you might need. Private message me if you want me to email you a copy.

I don't believe that is an airport security rule and find nothing about it at http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information. It may be a customs rule, in case customs agents decide to check the contents of your bag because they think you are a drug smuggler entering their country. Unless you are a drug smuggler, that rarely happens in Europe. You normally pass through the customs lane that says "nothing to declare" and nobody gives you a second glance.
