Looking to book 4/5 star hotel in London

Hi there - we will arrive in London on June 25 and stay till the 28th. Looking for thoughts on a 4/5 star hotel to book that is not in a high traffic area but still within average distances to major attractions. Pros? cons? Thank you everyone in advance.

The London Elizabeth Hotel, Lancaster Terrace. Across from Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park and a great pub The Swan around the corner, a three minute walk.

I was able to stay at the Holiday Inn Mayfair and the Crown Plaza Kensington through IHG points. Both were in safe feeling areas while being very short walks to the tube station. The Mayfair neighborhood felt a little more "in the city" than Kensington. The quality of the rooms were relatively equal despite CPK being very modern and HI Mayfair feeling the smallest bit dated. Also, as an IHG member, I was able to access breakfast and evening wine/appetizers for free at the Crown Plaza. I also liked their toiletries a little better. Green Park tube station in Mayfair was more convenient than Gloucester station in Kensington because it has the step-free option. Kensington was more neighborhood feeling though and we found some great local options for a nice change from the grab and go sandwiches or high priced tourist eats

I've been to London twice so I'm not nearly as well versed as the more frequent posters but I happened to have this experience to share. Enjoy your trip!

We have stayed twice at the Nadler Kensington, which is a short walk from the Earls Court tube station. Many, many pubs, restaurants, and helpful shops nearby. The tube station is on the Piccadilly and District lines, which take you most places you will want to go. Just assure that you room does not face the street. By the way, the Piccadilly goes out to Heathrow. We really like this hotel, and will stay there again the next time we are in London.
