Looking for the best way to travel from London to Liverpool.

Looking for the best way to travel from London to Liverpool. I saw a train via Avanti West Coast was an option, but wasn't sure about the service. It looks to be about a 2 hours ride. There was another train service via National Rail with 3 stops, that is about 3 hours. We are staying near South Kensington in London if that helps with stations. Any advice about which is better is appreciated.

National rail does not run train services it is the brand name for services provided by Train Operating Companies (TOCs). Most trains to Liverpool from London Euston are operated by the TOC Avanti although I think East Midlands Trains operate some services. Nationalrail.co.uk will give you all the available options.

What kind of service are you looking for?

Avanti West Coast operates the trains from London Euston station to Liverpool. Their's is fastest and some have no changes.

In second class there is an on board cafe where you can purchase snacks and drink.

In first class you get a light meal and free drinks served at your seat. You also have access to the Avanti Lounge at Euston station. (It's upstairs.)

There should also be free wifi on the train.

East Midlands Trains run no service to Liverpool from London - from Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester they do

You could do London North Western from Euston to Crewe, change for Liverpool but unless budget is very tight the much faster Avanti direct trains are the best choice from Euston.
They now run twice an hour.
