Looking for London Tour Guide

A friend and I will be returning to London for a few days after the Rick Steves Southern England tour. This will be the second trip either of us have taken to London in many, many, many years and definitely would like to engage a local guide to make the best of our time. Looking for recommendations on local guides. I have reached out to the five listed in the London book. Thank you.

Have a look at the Blue Guide website for London. Blue Guides are fully trained and qualified to lead guided tours with an in depth knowledge. They will adapt a tour to your specific requirements.

Check out Gillian in the England guides section of the Forum. Or just put "Gillian" in the search bar.

We had her as a local guide on our South England tour, and she was delightful. And as a Blue Badge Guide, she is guaranteed to know her stuff.

I would second Gillian! We had her on our Best of London tour and she was fantastic. She knew lots of history and was able to recommend additional things to do.

I fully understand the attraction of a guide. However, you will recently have honed your travel skills on the Southern England tour. You might consider taking a few of these, according to your interests. https://www.walks.com/our-walks/walks-by-date/ They are 10£ if you are 65 or older, 15£ if younger . Lots of great walks and they all last 2 hours. It used to be you could just show up but now I understand they prefer you register, but you do not pay in advance. And they are all simply amazing. Just an option

Using London Walks for two hour tours would also allow you and your friend to split up if you have different interests. You could do a Shakespeare walk while your friend does a walk about mediaeval London.

I would get a guide book and decide where you want to go, no need for the expense of a tour guide

Another London Walks fan here. London Walks is a guides cooperative, so the guides do private tours too. Have a look at their website and/or call David and Mary in the office and let them know what you are interested in covering.
