Looking for modestly priced comfortable and quiet accommodations. We will be staying in London 5 nights for our first visit. We are two experienced senior travelers. We are open to a nice B and B as well.
Thank you!
What is your idea of “modestly priced” accommodations in £ or $ ?
Around $300 a night
Hotel 63 on Bayswater Rd. is a modestly priced hotel. We paid @ $175 USD per night in September 2023 for a double. A continental breakfast was included. Looking back we should have increased our budget as we were there 10 days and really needed something more comfortable, with a larger bathroom, better beds, etc. (we are seniors as well). We opted for a room in the back as front rooms were directly located on Bayswater, a very busy street. No A/C which could be a problem if it is still warm in September. In fact two weeks prior to our visit, they were having a heat wave.
All the employees were very nice here.
We are seasoned travelers and totally expect some inconveniences.
They did have a working lift which is not always the case in older buildings.
We loved the area across from Hyde Park and the extremely convenient Lancaster Gate tube, as well as Paddington Station. Great bus service as well. Just tap your contactless cc. Very easy to get around the city.
63 Bayswater is a favorite accommodation but I’ve also enjoyed Premier Inn stays.
Unless things have changed at 63 following the Covid lockdown the accommodation price includes breakfast. No clue if its still offered.
63 does have an elevator. Pleasant spot for coffee is across the road in Hyde Park at the Italian Gardens.
I really liked my stay at Premier Inn Waterloo last year in September. I checked their price point for end of September 2024 - £165 or $210 per night for a double or king sized bed. The area was convenient for the activities I wanted to experience and the room was very comfortable.
