Londonpass 20% off right now and Oystercard.

I'm thinking of grabbing a 6 day Londonpass with Oystercard for my upcoming trip. 163GBP right now and includes the following exhibits that I intend to see: HOHO, TOL, Thames River cruise, Westminster Abbey, St Paul Cathedral and Churchill war rooms. I think that worse case scenario it's merely a break even and potentially it is very convenient to have those places already purchased?

My itinerary closely follows the London 3 day plan laid out in RS book, just rearranging the days and inserting a side quest over the weekend between days 1 and 2.

Regarding the Oystercard- should I get the 7 day travel card as well? My extraneous travel is airport Gatwick express and the side trip to Bath or York- TBD. The travel card won't help those trips, right? Should I advance purchase the other rail trips then?

Thanks again for all the info and help. Jody

Hi Woppinger, thanks for that link. I didn't know about those deals. I did purchase the Londonpass last night because the sale was expiring. I will research the 2 4 1 today when I get home from work. I can probably use it for London Eye if nothing else. Jody

If you're using an Oyster Card for travel, you can't get the Two For One deals. These require a paper train ticket, or a paper Travel Card issued by National Rail, with the "crows feet" logo (not one issued by Transport for London, with the "circle with a slash through it" logo, and not an Oyster Card).

A six day London Pass at that price means 27 GBP per day. If you're going to some of the pricey covered attractions, that's a good deal (the shorter cards, with their much higher per day cost, are much harder to make pay off without running around for every minute of every day).

Yes, for any trips outside the validity of your Travel Card, including York and Bath, you can get Advance tickets for much less than last minute tickets. Note that Advance tickets are not the same as other tickets bought in advance; with a capital A, they are non-refundable and you must take the exact train you booked. But they can save a fortune over more flexible tickets.

Look at all train options and prices on National Rail's website or app: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. Check the conditions of any ticket before you buy it.
