My husband and I leave next week for our first trip together to the UK. I like the unexpected travel souvenir - can anyone recommend used book and/or charity shops in central London? We're staying in the vicinity of Victoria station. We will also be in Oxford for one day.
Google Oxfam shops London and Oxford.
Charing Cross Road between Leicester Square and Cambridge Circus, and the area generally around there has always been, and still is, a hub for second hand books, of all sorts.
Charity shops are on every shopping parade and every high streets, except those which are completely rented out to stores which can afford high rents.
Usually they are linked to such charities as heart, kidney, diabetes, cancer and children's charities.
Usually when you find one you will find several.
Thank you! All great suggestions, and I've already located several shops.
Many of the shops that used to be on Charing Cross Road have closed due to online competition and a new policy by the landlords of making as much money as possible. There are still a few on the road and in the sidestreets at the Trafalgar Square end, though.
