London Underground strike next week CANCELLED

Next Tuesday at 9pm 14 October most Underground drivers are expected to strike against the cut of 1,000 ticket office workers and a few others. The proposed closing of all the booking office and ticket windows is expected to cause confusion among tourists and others.

If you plan to use the Underground next week you are advised to check before travel.

The vintage buses presumably will make a reappearance.

There are though talks again tomorrow.

I also saw the same information. Closing at 9 pm on Tuesday until the same time on Thursday. I couldn't find out if it was the entire underground or limited service.

The strike is not supported by the TSSA. Not sure about ASLEF but they usually have separate concerns. Last time about half the trains ran with about 20% of the stations closed at any one time.

I'm freaking out a little will be in London 11th and leaving the 16th. what's the best way to get around without the tube. i was going to buy an oyster card when i got there since i missed the deadline for the visitor oyster card. is this still a good idea? If we want to go to Windsor on the 15th and we are staying near marble arch station what is the best way to go?

any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Nigel, I hope you know how much we appreciate your help on this forum, especially with these tube strikes. You were so helpful during the one last May.

To those headed to London during that time period, if you go to the tfl website, you can plug in your itinerary and it will give you all travel options.

Marble Arch to Windsor? Bus 36 or 23 or 7 or 436 to Padington station, train to Slough, train to Windsor. If the bus is too crowded you can walk to Paddington in about 20 mins which is not much longer than the bus anyway.

TfL will publish the services still expected to run the day before.

I've just been informed that the strike has been cancelled. Good news.
