Is it safe to travel on the Tube in London at night? We'll be traveling from The Globe Theatre to just North of Hyde Park after a performance, so I guess travel would be around 10 p.m.
Yes.
Thanks for the quick reply, Nick!
Yes, I’d be happy with my 76 year old mother making that trip.
Dale - that's pretty funny....I'm a 78-year-old grandmother who will be traveling with her granddaughter.
You’ll be fine. Enjoy yourselves at the theatre!
To amplify why the answer is "yes," London is a city of millions of people, and it does not stop at 10 PM. Think about it - there are many, many theatres (and cinemas), and after the performances end, how does everyone get home? Lots of people will be finishing dinner out at 10 PM - how do they get home? Others will be setting out for a night of clubs, etc - how do they get there? And lastly, some people will be finishing working late, or starting work on a night shift - how do they get to and from work?
You guessed it. Some will be walking, some will be riding bikes, some will be taking buses, some will take a taxi or Uber, and some will be driving themselves. But a huge number of them will be on the Tube. So, not only is it safe, don't expect it to be particularly empty. This last is can be a surprise to people from cities that "finish" earlier. London, like New York, is still hopping at 10 PM - and that includes its Underground.
Isn't NYC hopping at 0300?
According to Frank Sinatra it is.
