Hello, I spent a week in London in mid-September 2025.
I stayed at a Premier Inn near Earl's Court Tube station. It was comfortable. I decided to pay for a Premier Plus room, and early check in. The room was comfortable and clean.
This was my fourth trip to London; I have visited a number of major sites(Tower of London, Hampton Court, St. Paul's, Westminster Abbey) on previous trips. I bought tickets online for the sites I planned to visit and downloaded them to my phone.
I arrived on the last full day of the recent transit strike. Since I used Heathrow Express to reach Paddington ( personal preference) the strike didn't create problemsfor me.
I did tour Westminster Abbey and included the Queen's Jubilee Galleries, which I found really worthwhile. The gallery touch screens provided addition information about the history and construction of the Abbey, as well asa beautiful illuminated medieval missal.
I love theater and saw two plays: The Daughter of Time (Richard III), and The Weir.
I also did a day trip to Leicester so I could tour the Richard III Centre and see Richard III 's tomb in Leicester Cathedral. The train from St.Pancras Station was convenient and just one hour from London. For history buffs and those interested in the discovery of Richard III 's remains the center is definitely worth visiting. They have done an excellent job of covering the Wars of the Roses and the history of Richard's short reign and the controversy surrounding the Princes in the Tower.
As for practical matters I found that more and more businesses and venues are now cashless.
I did take a small amount of British pounds to top up my Oyster card. Many users just pay using their phones.
As a solo travel I found the cafe at Westminster Abbey as well as those at Foyles and Waterstone's bookstores to be convenient places for lunch or dinner.
As my ETA is good for two years I am already planning my next trip to my favorite city!
