London trip itinerary

Hello,
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children visiting london for the first time in April. I am thinking of spending 4 days in London and then going for couple days(2-3) to Bath/Stonehenge prior to coming back to london and flying back. Is this a fair plan. We will likely hit the major landmarks. We hope to get a apartment in london. What are the neighborhoods that i would be looking at

thanks in advance!

Few thoughts after spending decades visiting London.
1.) Whats your rental budget ? London is expensive.
2.) Have you gotten the RS London guidebook which is full of intel to help you create an itinerary as well as provide s insight into a few of London’s diverse neighborhoods.
3.) Have you researched the National Rail’s 2 for 1 Days Out deal?
4.) How old are the children? Is a Harry Potter Studio visit a MUST?
5.) Will you attend an Evensong?
6.) Will you want to see theatre?
7.) Are you staying up to date with Vaccination requirements and documentation needed to enter London
8.) While researching where to stay be certain the rental is within Zone 1 on the London Underground Map. Will save you monies on public transport. The further out from the city center you are you may find cheaper accommodations but all the savings will be lost money and time wise in travel.

As far as neighborhoods for first time visitors as well as your budget: Earls Court, Pimlico, Chelsea, Westminster, Paddington, Southwark and Bloomsbury.

Depending on the age of the children you could inquire about adjoining rooms at Premiere Inns.

Great city to explore.

In order to avoid the time involved in checking into London lodgings twice, I'd highly recommend going straight to Bath or Salisbury (for Stonehenge) on the day you fly into London. You will be tired that day and may not be in much condition to sightsee, so you may as well do something productive with your time. This way, you don't have to rush back to London on the last full day of your trip; you'll already be there, enjoying yourselves.

Are you planning to use public transportation to get around? That would work fine for the places you've mentioned. I would definitely not recommend renting a car and driving to Bath on the day you arrive.

I don't have kids, so I can't comment on what yours might enjoy; I have no interest in Stonehenge myself. Others can give you ideas suitable for kids, but they'll need to know how old yours will be at the time of the trip.

Great questions, Claudia. If your children want to see Harry Potter, you need to make reservations today. When(if) you can get those tickets may determine when you stay in London.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. We are all up-to-date with entry requirements. We do plan to use public transportation within London. Since we will likely be reaching London early, going to bath might be a good idea and then work our way backwards bro end up in London. I do have a 11 year old boy who will.be interested in Harry potter but not a make or break point. We just started planning with all the uncertainty. I only hope US removed it's requirements for testing. If not testing at the airport might be the easiest or the home proctored testing.
