London Travel from Heathrow

We need to get from Heathrow Terminal 3 to Watford Junction with luggage (carryon). It appears the most efficient way would be either the London bus or National Express bus. The National Express website, however, says it's operated by a 3rd party, Green Line (Excel). It's about an hour ride and £20 for two people. I found a Greenline (one word) website, but couldn't find any information on this supposed route. But then the Transport for London website shows a similar bus route #724 leaving the Heathrow bus terminal for about the same price. But I can't find the #724 bus elsewhere on the TFL website. So I'm totally confused if this is the same bus or different one. And would they have room for a carryon suitcase (or I can hold in my lap, I guess). Or is there some other option such as a shuttle or Uber?

Would much appreciate helpful advice.

I love to solve travel mysteries...does this help? You're right...this isn't an easy line to find info about but I think this has what you need.

Thanks for the info and links. Looks like we've got some good bus options.

Just to clear up any confusion: Greenline have been around for years but were taken over by Arriva a while back. They operate to towns outside North and West of but close to London - usually - where Greenline goes, National Express doesn't. Walk towards Victoria Coach Station and you'll see Greenline parked up along Buckingham Palace Road. (No need to go into the coach station for them) Also, they operate a few routes in conjunction with Easybus.

I used to take the 724 to work, glad to hear its still running.
The reason you didn't find it on the TFL site is it is not a London bus, it is an orbital route outside London, operated by a local company (not National Express or TFL).

It runs once an hour. It was often spectacularly late (20-30 minutes) because of traffic and the length of the run. I doubt it has got better.

BTW, the # symbol is not used as an abbreviation for "number", if you were searching for #724 it finds nothing, "bus 724" gets lots of hits.
