London tours

My husband and I are ending our UK trip in London for a couple of days. We would like to have a guide so as not to waste time wandering around and going the wrong way. I would like suggestions for personal guides or small group tours in London.
We are staying near King's Cross Station.

Research the London Walks website.

Are you walkers?

From Kings Cross you could enjoy taking The Regents Canal towpath from Granary Square up to Camden Marketplace.

Definitely visit the British Library. Pleasant cafe and stellar gift shop. It may be Summer but think of Christmas Stocking gifts.

If you enjoy good food and a pub cat check out The Seven Stars by the Royal Courts.

Or closer to Kings Cross try the Queens Head pub.

Lastly the St Pancras Old Church has a nice quiet garden area to walk about. Not sure if the Hardy Tree still stands though.

What are you interested in seeing and doing in London?

London Walks, mentioned above, has several tours daily based on neighborhood or a theme. I joined their Hampstead Village and Heath walk in April and it was very well done. The guide provided the stories to give meaning to what I was seeing.

If your interested in museums, you could join a group tour. For example, in March I took The Around the World in 90 minute tour at the British Museum. For me it was the perfect way to see the huge museum's highlights without being overwhelmed and trying to find things on my own.

If your willing to get around by tube and bus in addition to walking, download the Citymapper app. It will give you precise directions for using London transport. For using the tube, for example, it will advise you which cars to board and which exit to take at the station. On bus and tube it even alerts you that your stop is coming up.

I've never found a need for a private guide in London so I have no recommendation to offer. Enjoy your stay in London!
