London to York and back

Four of us finish a Rabbies tour to Cornwall in London the evening of June 6th. We can take the train to York that night for about $45 each. Is that a good ticket price?

We need to get from York to our hotel at Heathrow the night of June 9. Is taking the train back to Kings Cross and then getting to Heathrow from there our best bet or is there a better option from York?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Between London and York the two train operators are https://www.grandcentralrail.com/ and https://www.lner.co.uk/

Tickets for June are not yet on sale. When the cheaper Advance tickets become available you should see prices start from about £23.

From York to LHR the best option is train back to Kings Cross. Once in central London you then make your way to LHR - public transport, private car service.

When we traveled to York from London (2017) we found fares at 13£ per person one way, with a senior discount and a group (4 people) discount. So worth waiting and checking when the tickets are really on sale. If you're looking at a third party website, they're likely actually selling a promissory note for a ticket not actually available yet.

You can only get one discount. Either a Rail Card one or a small group one
