London to Windsor

Hey guys,

My wife and I were thinking about taking a half to full day to leave London for 1 of our vacation days to visit Windsor. Is Windsor a great place to visit other than just the Windsor castle? If so, what would be the beat way to get there for a decent price yet also convenient?

Thanks for the hell!

Windsor is a very pleasant Thamesside town, dominated by the Castle. Things to occupy you:

The castle and grounds can take up a whole day by themselves. Changing of the Guard, etc. And St George's Chapel.
Tour Eton College (May to end of August only)
Boating trip on Thames
Stroll around the town

Express Train from Paddington, change at Slough. Takes about 30 minutes or direct train from Waterloo but takes 1 hour.

Windsor is well worth a visit. Take the train from London Paddington. As you exit the train turn to your left, walk up the street and the castle is right there across the street. As you look at the castle if you turn to your left and walk down the sidewalk to the second street on the left turn, cross over the bright and you will be in Eton. After you tour the castle and walk back to High Street (by Queen Victoria statue) if your turn to your left and follow the sidewalk down you will get to Windsor Great Park (a great pub is right there), walk through the gates and walk left to the fence, you get a great view of the royal residence park of the castle. The Long Walk (the run in the park) is the private Road for the royal family to use to come and leave the castle. Have a fun day in Windsor.

I suggest trying to see the Changing of the Guard at Windsor instead of Buckingham Palace. I was at the front of the area to see with no hassles very easily. Check the website for times.
