Hi all, we need to go from London to Northampton on December 26, Boxing Day. It looks like there is no train service, coach service says it takes 2 hours.
What would the cost be if we hired a car service? 4 passengers. We are are trying to see family while in London, that day seems to be free.
Thanks!
Prerana
The distance from central London is about 65 miles, so unless you plan a very short visit with the driver just hanging out in Northampton, it seems you'd be paying for over 250 miles (two round-trips). I really have no idea how much that would cost.
This journey will take 2.5 hours driving without any traffic delays or stops.
I can’t imagine that you would find anyone prepared to hang around for hours in Northampton unless you paid them lots and lots of money. Boxing Day is a Bank Holiday, so you may have to pay a premium.
I have just googled a local taxi firm and the one way price seems to be £150. Take a National Express coach.
If you are visiting family can't they collect you?
Jennifer drives slower than me.
I pass near Northampton on my drives to the City of London, and on a Sunday (probably similar on Boxing Day) I can do it in just over 90 minutes from my house.
There are road works between 15 and 13 on the M1 so if somebody screws up that section can take longer than normal.
But your rellies would know about that.
And if you want your relatives to kind of meet you part way rather than them going all the way into London there are trains running to Oxford Parkway from Marylebone on Boxing Day but the last train is an early 20.35.
