Planning a trip to London next year and then on to Munich. Looking for options to go from London to Munich. We don't travel light, several suitcases and carry on. I am concerned about the discount airlines, I have heard they charge an arm and a leg for luggage. Does anyone have experience with this journey? Time is not a big factor, but cost is always a consideration.
How about define 'several' and 'we'. Can you move all of them at once by yourselves in one trip, or would it take something like a luggage cart?
We are two travelers, retired, but in good shape and we can handle the luggage. Two large suitcases and two carry on bags.
We flew BA to Munich last December, from London Heathrow. This was an add-on ticket for us. The flight was purchased several months in advance and at a very good price. If you can lock in your dates early enough, this would probably be a good choice for you. We were allowed the regular checked baggage allowance.
BA or Lufthansa, whichever is cheaper. Either is probably under two hundred bucks. The luggage will work.
Thank you Diane and Ed, for your information.
I'll still encourage you to travel as light as possible. Any of these airlines should show you checked luggage fees when you book the ticket, and some offer discounts to pre-pay for the luggage.
