London to Louton Airport Suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions for travel from Kings St (W6 0QW) to Luton Airport in early March.

Welcome to the Forums, ctredsoxfan

you will be somewhere between Ravenscourt Park (District Line Richmond Branch and Ealing Broadway Branch) and Hammersmith (Circle, District, Piccadilly Lines) tube stations.
Your goal will be to get to London St Pancras International station where you can get a train direct to Luton Airport Parkway.

This being London, there are many ways to skin a cat.

Can we start with what time is your flight, what day of the week, preferably the exact date, so that we can ensure you won't get caught up in engineering works.

My instinct would be to walk the few minutes to Hammersmith and hop on a Piccadilly Line tube train to Kings Cross St Pancras and go upstairs to an EMR train one stop to Luton Airport Parkway, then onto the DART into the airport. Get your ticket to Luton Airport not to the train station Luton Airport Parkway because then you will need to buy the DART - it is much too far to walk.

The EMR trains go twice an hour. If that doesn't work you could go downstairs to Thameslink which goes to the same Luton (watch the spelling) Airport Parkway but slower as it stops on the way several times.

Once we have the requested info we can give a more precise reply.

EasyJet also run a bus to Luton Airport from some spots around London but may not be as convenient or fast as the tube and train and DART.

The key is to get to any of the Thameslink stations. From the W6 Hammersmith area, that could be District line to Blackfriars, or Hammersmith & City to Kings Cross/St Pancras). From there take any northbound train headed for Bedford. Get off at Luton Airport Parkway. From there, there is a dedicated shuttle bus to the airport called Luton Dart. Very easy.

I've only done it in the opposite direction (from airport to London). If catching a flight, I would give myself 2 hours to get to the airport, although it will probably take you less.

Just for clarity, there are two trains:

-EMR- these trains terminate at St Pancras (from the north) and go direct to Luton Airport Parkway without stopping. The only place in London you can get one is at St Pancras.

-Thameslink- these trains run from Bedford all the way down to Brighton, so you can catch them at several places in London (London Bridge, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon, St Pancras, Kentish Town, West Hampstead). Some go express from St Pancras, others make every single stop on the way to Luton Airport Parkway, and some make just a few stops, so the journey time can vary quite a bit.

As Nigel says you want to buy a ticket to Luton Airport (not Luton Airport Parkway) as this includes the DART service that takes you from the train station to the airport.

Regarding the Hammersmith leg of your trip. There are two tube stations, one called Hammersmith, the other Hammersmith station.
They are on opposite sides of the intersecting roads in the centre of Hammersmith, 3 or 4 minutes walk between them. It is shown on the tube map as a dotted line indicating that an outside street walk is required.
Hammersmith for the Piccadilly and District lines.
Hammersmith station for Circle and Hammersmith & City lines.
