Is there any encouraging news on traveling from London to Liverpool on the 22nd? Am I missing something on train travel options? Six of us are traveling together.
The National Rail planner isn’t coming up with anything, but there’s a link to this page. I put in some details for a London/Liverpool journey on that day and it was coming up with options - albeit very long-winded ones.
Click on the red link. It’s going to take maybe three or four hours, but there do appear to be trains.
There are three issues making the journey problematic on 22nd.
Firstly there is planned engineering work between Rugby and Stafford this week which means that the trains are diverted via Birmingham, which will add about an hour to the journey time.
Secondly the RMT union (most non driver railway workers) has a strike on 22nd. This won’t mean that all trains are cancelled but the service will be reduced with very few services early and late.
Thirdly their ASLEF Union (train drivers) has an overtime ban this week, which again may lead to trains being cancelled.
The National Rail website seems to be showing the new strike timetable right now, although some short notice cancellations can’t be ruled out.
I don't know if there has been a planning meeting but the National Rail planner is showing trains from Euston for the 22nd at present

How did your journey go yesterday?
I can see that all trains scheduled to run from London Euston on the strike day schedule did, and that there were no delays or cancellations to any of them.
Thank you for asking. Because there were 6 of us and we were rather anxious about the strike outcome, we arranged earlier in the week for a car service. It was not significantly more expensive and worked out well. This forum has been great!
