London to Glasgow Train Issues

I am trying to book a train from London to Glasgow in early May. I can't seem to find one with no changes. All routes make me change in Edinburgh.

I have done this route before and don't remember having to change. (It's been a couple of years.)

To all our UK rail experts---is something going on I don't know about? I have looked at both LNER and Virgin Trains websites and tried different days.

Addendum....I found the answer.....over Easter Weekend and Early May Bank Holiday Weekend (when I wanted to go), Network rail is undertaking engineering work that affects I believe Euston Station.

Is it possible it's the particular date you are looking at or the particular time train? On the Virgin website I see direct trains London Euston to Glasgow Central. I tried May 7 and May 8 and both showed these trains.

Yup, that's the answer.

Always good advice to never travel in the UK on a Bank Holiday weekend. The roads are awful, especially heading to places of scenic beauty and the "beach" and the trains undergo huge engineering works while the commuters are in the car going to the beach. Not only Euston on the West Coast Main Line at Easter this time, but also anything north of Preston, and various other bus replacement services.

I haven't looked at the Early May Bank Holiday yet but with the boondoggle that is HS2 grinding forward expect every bank holiday and the Christmas Blockade to be a dog's dinner.

I fly into Gatwick late on the 3rd and need to get up to Scotland the next morning. (Saturday, the 4th). Flights are not cheap but I may just bite the bullet and fly since I'll already be at Gatwick.
