London to Edinburgh by Eurail in October

Newbie here, going from London to Edinburgh in October and would like to use my Eurail pass but the reservation system on the Eurail website says "Not available from Eurail" but the website says I can use my pass on this route. Does anyone know how to use a Eurail pass from London to Edinburgh??? That was one of the reasons I bought the pass in the first place. Thanks for any advice. I still have time to refund the Eurail pass if it's not going to work.

I never used a Eurail pass, but a cursory glance at the website:

Eurail in UK

looks like you don't need a reservation for the train itself, but you can make
a seat reservation for a specific train. I would definitely do that, as it would
seem to guarantee your ability to ride a specific departure.

A Eurail pass is certainly valid on any UK train. Without knowing the rest of the itinerary it isn't possible to know if it's the most economical option.

Assuming it is then you need to reserve your seat direct on the LNER website/app. Standalone seat reservations are open 12 weeks before travel- so too early yet.

https://www.lner.co.uk/travel-information/make-a-reservation/

You will need to create an account with LNER and input the number of your pass- Click in where it says 'Select booking reference' in step 2 of the process, choose 'My booking is not listed' then the 'Other' radio button, then input the pass number in the 'Booking reference' box.

the key thing to beware of with the Eurail link supplied by shoeflyer is that it mentions ACP of Canada - before you rush in beware of their service fee, which their website describes as "price". Unlike most of europe seat reservations on british trains are FREE whether through an offical website or by going to the desk at any station with a suitable computer.

I use a Eurail pass in the UK every year. It is brilliant for flexibility and can quickly pay for itself if you “ride the rails” for a month or two. (In the next three weeks I will probably (yay for flexibility!) do London - Cardiff - Haltwhistle -Newcastle - Glasgow — Harwich, and then use the discount on the Stena ferry to Hoek van Holland.). Sheer madness…..but great fun!

you can indeed use it on the LNER and Lumo. The scanners at the barriers frequently do not recognize the pass on your phone, but the gate staff is very familiar with the pass and will let you through.

It is a VERY good idea to make a (free) seat reservation on LNER or GWR. Scotland is an Instagram darling this year.

Have a look at seat61.com. — the bible for train travel. Study the pages on using Eurail/Interrail , and on UK trains.
