I will be in London for several days in June and would dearly love to visit Charleston, Vanessa Bell's house in the English countryside near Lewes that was a center of the Bloomsbury group. Has anyone ever made the trip? How did you get there? The Charleston Trust website is a little vague about taxi availability, etc.
I have driven. It's not well served by public transport, but your best option is to take the train from London Victoria to Lewes, then take a taxi. There are taxis outside the station and there is a taxi office opposite. Make arrangements with your driver to pick you up or phone them when you want to return.
There are some good walks around Charleston. Stunning area.
