London to Blenheim for the day

Have done some research into this but would appreciate a hot tip on an efficient & relatively inexpensive ride from London to Blenheim.

I gather one gets themselves out to Oxford (how best?) then there are busses every 30 mins. Any major pitfalls? Insider tricks?

Thank you,
Tanya

Train from Marylebone to Oxford Parkway station, then the bus is the quickest route if you aren't interested in going to Oxford itself. Advance tickets for the train should be around £6 each way if you book early enough.

There are a few options. This is what I did which was easy AND a cost savings.

Take the train (Great Western Railway) from London Paddington to Oxford. Take the S3 Stagecoach bus which you can take directly from the Oxford train station. Just take the walkway over the tracks for the bus.

In fact, ask the S3 bus driver for the 30% off ticket to Blenheim Palace which you cannot enjoy if you buy online in advance. The bus driver accepts cash and contactless Visa. I'm not sure about other contactless cards as I only use the Visa card.

The same 30% off offer is available from the 7 bus from Oxford Parkway.

However, if there is any chance you might go back within a year, don't pay the bus driver for the entrance but keep the bus ticket and pay at the gate. This way you can get an annual pass.
