London to Amsterdam

2 - 3 weeks in Europe
Leaving the US late August for London - spend 7 - 14 days in London area then heading to Amsterdam for a week via ?train.

I would like to explore some area between London and Amsterdam. (before heading into Amsterdam) Perhaps leave London - and stay somewhere halfway there or on the Easter coast of England then head into Amsterdam? what is involved and is this easy to do?. I am open to travelling by train/bus/boat if needs be - just looking for ideas. not into the touristy areas - and just happy with exploring and just hanging out

London to Amsterdam can be done by train or air. By train, there are two through trains a day (3h41), otherwise change in Brussels. Details here: https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/direct-eurostar-london-to-amsterdam.htm

The obvious place between the two is Brugge, which is ~1 hour from Brussels by Belgian InterCity train. Other places as well.

By air, I'd tempted just take a flight from London City Airport to Amsterdam Schipol. Check out the towns outside of Amsterdam from there.
