London - The Strand Palace or Resident Inn at Covent Garden

The Strand Palace is much cheaper for a week (2 rooms), by about a $900. That’s no necessarily a dealbreaker if the Resident Inn is that much nicer. For those who have stayed at either, or both, what are your opinions? Thank you.

I have not stayed at The Strand Palace, but I have stayed at The Resident Victoria (note it is not the Resident Inn). I really loved my stay there, and it's probably one of my favorite hotels. The service was exceptional. The rooms were lovely and included a kitchenette, with a Nespresso, hot water kettle, microwave, sink and dishwasher. There were lots of benefits, including a social hour every evening in the lobby with free wine and snacks, which was a very nice way to meet other travelers staying there. I enjoyed multiple conversations with other people and really liked it.

In terms of cost comparison, have you priced it with the member's discount? Anyone who is a member (which is free), receives a 15% discount off the total price.

Lulu, if you want more replies, you might want to edit the title of your thread to note the correct name of the hotel, which is "The Resident Covent Garden." Right now, people probably think you're talking about a Marriott Resident Inn.

Lin C., that's the one I was talking about. It's wonderful. It's really a lovely place to stay.

My sister-in-law and niece stayed at the Strand Palace in late July and were very happy with it.

We're going to London for Christmas in Dec and will be staying at the Strand Palace. I'll try to let everyone know how it went.

It’s been over 40 years since I stayed there ( twice ) but the Strand Palace was fine for me

OP here. The Strand Palace is very nice, clean large hotel. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just not a lot of character. But the location is amazing and I will recommend it to others. It was wonderful just walking out the door, and around the corner was Covent Market. 5 minute walk to Trafalgar Square.
