Has anyone been on a Thames River Cruise tour in London this summer? Looking for a recommendation for a 1-2 hour cruise, round trip preferred, but not a deal breaker if it isn't. There seem to be so many choices I'm just hoping for a bit of advice to point us in the right direction. We will be there in late September, in case that changes what's available.
Thank!
Nancy
I would just take the uber boat. You can hop on and and off whereever you like. And no tickets or reservations needed. Just tap to pay with your credit card at the pier.
Details here:
I would either head towards Greenwich on the Uber Boat or towards Richmond on the Thames River Boats: https://www.thamesriverboats.co.uk/
The boats to Richmond are seasonal- it looks like they are still running in late September but I would check your actual dates.
I did this LondonWalks tour and enjoyed it

Paying for the Uber boat/Thames Clipper by just tapping with our credit card is the most expensive way to travel- best is to buy online at least 3 days beforehand for a 15% discount, and seriously looking at a one or two day rover ticket which can be used as a hop on hop off ticket all the way from Putney to Greenwich and beyond- https://www.thamesclippers.com/plan-your-journey/ticket-information
Another vote for the Uber Boats.
Several years ago my husband and I were gifted a 2-hour, narrated lunch cruise of the Thames. It was ok and certainly wasn’t something we would have chosen for ourselves. The narration was good but the lunch part was distracting from the view and for the price, the food was forgettable.
Last time we were in London we discovered the Uber boats and loved them. Tour boat and transportation all in one. Our longest ride took us from Waterloo Pier out to Canary Wharf to get to London Museum Docklands. Excellent museum. Although there is no formal narration on Uber boats (our skipper did make funny announcements as we docked at each stop), you can pay a bit extra and download an audio guide to your phone.
I did the Ûber boats in May. No commentary, but I was mostly there to get from place to place and see the city from the river level.
