Saw this article today. If I understand it correctly, we will no longer need to take a test and quarantine for two days upon arrival to London. Is that right? Apologies if I didn’t copy the link. Correctly.
You need a day 2 LFT not a PCR test from Sunday, which will have to be preordered and paid for before you get on the flight to England. This is back to how it was in October/November before Omicron hit.
No need to quarantine on arrival (unless you are positive)!
I am glad common sense prevailed for once. Not that it can’t change again, but for now it’s welcome news. We still plan on testing before going over, but at least now it isn’t a requirement. We already scheduled a day2 PCR and since there is no more self-isolation requirement, we’ll just leave it rather than going through the hassle to switch it to the LFT. Now, if we could just get the U.S. to drop the requirement for a test to return to the states.
Definitely good news, and hoping the US follows suit soon. When the US is the global leader in new cases reported daily and omicron is already the dominant strain here, seems fairly silly to have all these burdensome testing requirements in place still.
Just in case anyone doesn't bother clicking on the link to read the article, it's important to note the Day 2 LFT and scrapping of pre-departure requirements only applies to fully vaccinated travelers.
Great news! Hope the US follows suit soon. on the other hand, omicron is developed dominant strain here.
