There will be two of us traveling to London in September. I'm thinking the Southwark area will be good for our stay. Any thoughts on this hotel, Southwalk Premier Inn- High Street, good or bad? We would get a Plus room. Do you actually get a view in the rooms with a view? I know it will be basic but would rather spend money on sights or tours as long as comfortable, clean and safe.
Thank you for your help
Are you referring to the Southwark PI and area, rather than Southwalk?
PS, I can't give info on this location. I have stayed at the County Hall location which is not far, and I really like the centrality of the location.
Nice location, would be good to go to Borough Market first thing in the morning before it gets packed. i don't think there will be much of a view, you'll be hemmed in by buildings.
Do you mean the one on Borough High Street? I haven’t stayed there but the location looks good. It’s practically next door to London Bridge tube station and there are several good restaurants around Borough Market that you can enjoy without having to brave the scrum of the market itself. Of course you can also get to the market early from there when it’s less crowded.
I don’t know what the view would be but I personally wouldn’t pay extra. To me a Premier Inn room is very comfortable and convenient but I’m not going to hang out there with a drink looking out the window. Standard rooms are really pretty decent, especially in new hotels like this one, so don’t feel like you need to pay for the Plus room to get a decent standard of accommodation.
BTW, it's pronounced Suth-urk; Suthurk. Something like that. With a hard "th" like a hard "the".

Definitely not obvious from the spelling.
I stayed at a Premier Plus room in County Hall, which isn't too far from Southwark. I didn't mind paying the extra charge for the room—it wasn't that much, and I got a mini-fridge, a Nespresso machine and the upscale Wifi, as opposed to the crappy Wifi they give everyone else. Granted a regular room can get this, too, but you have to pay £5 a day for the bump up. It was nice have a fridge in the room, too, as I liked to get stuff from the stores and have something to eat there.
It really depends on the difference in price. I think my cost was about £15 a day extra, but I definitely wouldn't go any higher than that. FWIW, they put all the Premier Plus rooms on the same floor (at least, they did at County Hall), so I don't know that you are going to get a better view. I don't think I had a good view where I was.
