London’s Naked Bike Ride is coming up!

All for a good cause, apparently, over 1,000 people will be riding nude, or mostly nude, through the streets of London on bicycles. A helmet might not be the only protection needed - without padding, the seat/saddle could get painful. And the participants riding on a public Santander rental bike? I hope they wipe it down afterwards, otherwise the next person to rent it may be getting more than they anticipated.

Seattle's is, too!

The Fremont Solstice Parade starts out with a naked bike ride, followed by a fantastic and fun parade. This takes place in the Fremont neighborhood and is totally free. If you're traveling to Seattle on June 22nd, it's totally worth the time to see something unique and wonderful.

More information, sans nudity, here

I happened to be in London for this last year and the entire parading group rode by me. It was such fun to watch and so unexpected - although their listed messages are serious - road safety for bikers, oil consumption awareness, and body shape positivity - the event is lighthearted and just absolutely worth checking out!

As my husband (a physician) likes to say, “most people look better with their clothes on”.

Appearances aside, as a (former) competitive cyclist, I cannot imagine the discomfort of riding around buck naked. But it does appear many of the participants have some minimal coverage for their sensitive parts.

The London cycling event we enjoy seeing is the springtime Tween Run in vintage clothing, often on an antique bicycle. Next year’s event is April 26, the weekend after Easter.

hey hey all
this post had me laughing so much.
years back i was in vancouver canada at a bar & grill (near chinatown) having a flight of beers (light to dark) on an outside table with my sister. heard some noise/yelling, turn to my right and here is a parade of naked bike riders!! for the life of me i laughed so much with tears, taking pictures, thought it only happened in "crazy" san francisco. saw many parades of all styles in the city, an unforgettable moment and memoir to remember forever.
totally agree with Lola's husband, "most people look better with clothes on!" few tours we did on cruise stops, greece and transatlantic, east coast felt the same way.
