London Premier Inn County Hall

Hi All,
I'm planning a week-long trip to London for the last week of March. I am fortunate enough to be returning with my three children (we visited fairly recently) and my parents will be accompanying us on this trip (their first trip to Europe).

I'm looking at lodging and the Premier Inn County Hall caught my eye both for price and an ideal location. Has anyone stayed here? Would you recommend it? It seems to have gotten good reviews.

Thank you in advance for any input on this hotel!

Nice hotel, great location. You can walk, bus or tube to so many attractions from there - and there are restaurants and cafes clustered nearby around the Royal Festival Hall on the lovely South Bank walk along the river.

The only downside (if you were coming later in the year) is I don’t think it has air conditioning. Not an issue generally in London in March but if it’s important to you, there’s also the nearby Premier Inn Waterloo which does have it.

Be aware that Premier Inns are a basic but very comfort chain - no concierge, room service, suitcase stand etc. But there will be a kettle and tea bags/coffee sachets (a kettle is a basic human right to us Brits).

Toiletries are basic (combined shampoo/shower gel in a dispenser over the bath). But they are friendly, clean, reliable, the beds are exceptionally comfortable and the breakfast buffet (kids free with a paying adult) is tasty and plentiful.

My husband and I are staying there next June on the advice of a colleague who travels to London frequently. She and her husband really enjoyed this location for walking to sights.

Air conditioning was one of the reasons I booked this hotel and I double checked after reading post above and premier inn says there is a/c.

It also has king sized beds which was a big deal to us as we don’t sleep well in a double bed.

I haven't stayed at that particular hotel but I have stayed at the Marriott County Hall next door and the location cannot be beaten. I have stayed in several Premier Inn's elsewhere and they are perfectly fine and the beds, for a somewhat 'budget' hotel, are exceptionally comfortable, on a par with many of the more expensive hotels I've stayed in. I would have absolutely no qualms staying in any Premier Inn and I'm a hotel snob!

Admittedly it’s about ten years since I stayed there so apologies for worrying you.

Thanks to everyone for your help! I'm going to reserve our rooms at this Premier Inn. Sounds like we will be very happy with the hotel, location, and price for right in London.

We stayed there a few years ago and were very pleased. Granted the decor tends toward functional, but the bed was comfortable, the linens on the bed and in the bath were superior and they kept the tea service refreshed. The check-in, check- out features were kiosk-based, but there was plenty of prompt staff around to make sure things ran smoothly. There was a full-service restaurant and adjacent bar, and several options across the pedestrian-only street. There was a charge for internet, but it was reasonable and, more importantly, good connectivity. There were several well-stocked vending machines in the lobby area and a small store across the street.

Our only problem was a cab driver that let us out at the Premeir Inn Waterloo. It was our first time staying at PI County Hall, so we didn’t realize til we got inside that we were in the wrong hotel. They’re only a block apart, and it makes a good story now, but it wasn’t so funny wandering around at midnight!

Great location and PI’s generally clean and warm, but very basic, which is fine for me. I’d go for it.

Thanks everyone for your advice! We reserved two family rooms at the Premier Inn County Hall. 7 nights stay along with adding full breakfasts for six people and having the final price under £2,000 seemed like a good value - especially considering the excellent location and a dependable hotel chain. Now we can't wait for our trip this March!
