Our trip will include some time in London. Can anyone recommend a reasonable, smaller, hotel near the British Museum in Piccadilly?
Charm a plus…
The British Museum is not in Piccadilly. It's closer to Russell Square.
OK I’ll look more carefully
BM is in Holborn near Russell Square and Bloomsbury.
hey hey katha.dalton
when is this trip, how many days, dates, # of people, any amenities, mobility issues (climbing stairs/steps), elevator/lift needed.
what does reasonable mean? hotel rates just keep going up & up, many rooms are small, check-in time 2-4pm, check-out 10-11am
read fine print and cancellation policies. hoping you find something that suits your needs and have a great trip. we loved london

Thank you! Late August thru early September.
He likes the British Museum, I like the V&A and Harrods food halls! Thoughts on where to stay?
If you stay near the British Museum or Harrods/V and A then the two locations are linked by the Piccadilly Line (Russell Square to Knightsbridge 7 stops for Harrods, or South Kensington 8 stops for the V and A)- about 15 minutes.
The V and A and Harrods are very walkable from each other (and arguably should be).
There is also London Bus route #19 which runs between the British Museum and Harrods.
If you are staying in the Piccadilly area then both the afore mentioned bus and the Picc line (half way between the two locations) serve both the BM and Harrods/V and A.
I've stayed at the Premier Inn Holborn, which is a walkable distance from the British Museum and an easy Underground trip from the Victoria & Albert Museum. I chose to stay there on my last trip to London because I was going to--finally--really attack the British Museum. I knew that would be a multi-day effort for me. This particular Premier Inn is on a quiet side street.
Premier Inns do not have character, but they are reliable and the beds are comfortable. Most Premier Inns, including this one, are air conditioned--something that might turn out to be important for your timeframe.
I've just been looking at London hotel rates for my own trip between May and early June. They are high! I'd suggest grabbing a fully refundable room at a Premier Inn whose location you like while you do further research on lodging. PI rates increase as the travel date approaches.
I would second the recommendation above for Premier Inns. I have not stayed at the Holborn location (although I was considering it for my last trip) but I have stayed at a number of other PIs and have always found them more than suitable. As acraven said, they are consistently clean, comfortable and have very reasonable prices.

I've had to redefine "reasonable" for this year's trip.
