London Pass--Skipping the line

Can you truly skip the lines if you have a London Pass? As I am traveling at a busy time, I am willing to lose a little money on it, if long lines can be avoided.

Lines for the major museums/sites in London aren't an issue like they are in Paris. The only sites that have any lines are the Tower of London, Madame Tussauds, and the Eye. Most all museums are free, and I've never encountered any lines of any of them. So a pass isn't going save much time.

We visited the Tower of London in July. Waited 10_15 minutes. No where else we went even had lines( since most museums are free) so can't imagine needing a pass for line skipping alone.

It's just a ploy by London Pass to get you to buy it, the 2 for 1 deals National Rail travelcard are much better anyway.

Agree the two for one railcard is a good deal. They cost 8.60 for a full day, and we used or to get the two for one at the Tower , and that saved us over 20 GBP that one day!

As I said everything else was free. We didn't go and see paid sites like Madame Tussaud's as a) we are not tracelling thousands of miles to see wax figures, b) its very expensive c) there are so many free things to see

I used the London pass on my first trip and you can skip lines. But I don't think I saved myself much time-maybe a max ten minutes at each site. I arrived the Tower of London right when it opened and there was no line. I bought the two day pass and pretty much broke even.

I think I'm in the minority of people that bought the London Pass because it DID save us money (I bought it before the price increase earlier this year and also there was a 10% off promotion). But that's not your question... I will say, when we got to Westminster Abbey, before it opened, the line was wrapped all the way around the corner and I was freaking out. Well, they had just started letting London Pass people get express entry and it made my day. We saved a bunch of time skipping the line on that one! I wouldn't call it a ploy. I mean, if there's a line, it's an advantage! But we followed Rick's advice and got to sights on the days and times that Rick suggested to avoid crowds/lines. And it worked for the most part except Westminster. But I will say, if you're wanting to buy it JUST to skip lines, it probably isn't worth it.
