London Pass on sale through Friday

The London Pass is on sale through Friday at 15% off. A few cautions. You should price out the attractions you are planning on seeing to make sure the London Pass is a good bargain for your particular trip. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t.

In addition, the best bargains are the multi day passes. The price only goes up a few pounds for each day.

I have used the London Pass in the past and found it provided time and money saving for my particular itinerary. Each person should price out for themselves.

New visitors to London need to be aware that a large number of the city's magnificent museums are free/donation-requested, so the London Pass will not help with them, and time spent in those (often very large) museums is time not available to use the Pass.

While it is true that there are many free attractions in London, there are also many that are not. Let me share my planning that helped me determine whether or not I was going to purchase a pass. I'm going with friends and I know that we will want to see the follow items for sure:

Tower of London 33.6
Westminster Abbey concession (senior) 26
Uber Boat concession 9.80
Cutty Sark 18
Naval Museum 15
ST Paul concession 20.50
Hampton Court Palace concession 23.20
Royal Observatory 15
Total 137.90 pounds
I am sure that we will visit other places covered by the pass as well, but I only needed to add up admissions that were more than the 136.80 pound cost of the 6 day pass to know that this would be a good purchase for me.

With 6 days, we aren't going to feel rushed or the need to visit as many as possible to "get our money's worth." We will, however, have more opportunities at no cost than we would have had otherwise.

Carol, thanks for the heads-up. Looking up the London Pass (Go City) Website, it’s actually up to 15% off. A 10-day pass is discounted 15%, but a pass for fewer days has less of a discount. A 6-day pass is discounted not quite 9% off right now. There does, however, seem to be an additional 5% off if you sign up for their e-mail list. Then, there’s also a cap amount that limits how much you’re permitted to save. A 6-day pass can be used for up to £670 worth of sights, quite a lot. Still, if it’s cheaper than full entry price to sights, it’s a deal.

They offer a refund within 90 days of purchase. They also guarantee you’ll save money, but if you don’t, you need send them proof within 14 days, along with having gone to at least 3 covered sights each day. You have 2 years to activate your pass.

I see there’s also a Sightseeing Pass from another company, which is 10% off right now. So many offers!

I've been looking into this as we'll be in London for the month of June. A couple of months ago the base 10 day price included an oyster card with £50 on it. The Pass regularly has ten percent off.

A shame it can't be used over a period of time as opposed to continuous days. However, there is the Explorer Pass, £126 for seven attractions within 60 days. Worth it if you have the time and the higher priced attractions are of interest. Then there's all the free stuff.
