DaysOut site makes no mention of it, which worries me. A seemingly updated article on tripadvisor claims that a 7-day travelcard issued by Nat'l Railways can also be used for 2-4-1 deals. Is that option still valid? Do they still make paper travelcards for 7 days? And, most importantly, can it be purchased at Euston?
Yes

Take a photo of passport size.
This may be obvious, but make sure you go to the National Rail counter to purchase the tickets, not the Underground one.
Thank you both! Yes, sometimes even the obvious needs to be said.
What is fee for 241? Is there a reduced fee for persons over 60 years of age?
What fee do you mean, Val? In order to save money at some attractions by participating in a promotion offered by the main railway companies you need to present a valid train ticket used to travel to your destination.
OK, we used the 2-1 National Rail Days Out "deals" in 2011, but I just read a Tripadvisor post that said it is not the deal it used to be because National Rail upped the price of a pass this year? So London Pass with Oyster or National Rail paper pass with 2-1 - what would you do?
Here is the post and note the ages of his kids: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k8180008-Two_for_1_2For1_offer_from_National_Rail_for_a_family_of_4-London_England.html
Blame TfL for the large increase in the price of a one day travelcard, not National Rail. They would probably wish it could be eliminated altogether in favour of contactless payments and capping.
