London... on crutches... airport transfers

Lucky me, I fractured my tibia a week before my trip. We have a few days in London over this bank holiday weekend so I expect it to be busy.

My questions are for airport transfers. We arrive Sunday am to Heathrow and are staying in the West End on Southampton Row. Our plan was to walk to Euston and take train from Heathrow.

We are headed to Ireland via Stansted airport on Wednesday afternoon.

  • Does anyone have any good recommendations for us for bus/shuttles rather than trying to maneuver through the tube on crutches with luggage?

  • Are Uber/Lyft prices competitive? Is one recommended more than the other?

  • Any advice for best options to tour while hobbling?

Thanks!

Thanks Emma. I had wild hopes that I could manage the tube but I guess cabs make sense.

I am going to read more about 'minicab' their rates looked reasonable.

No personal experience with minicabs, but three that are often mentioned are Blackberry Cars, Simply Airports, and Just Airports. Just Airports has a substantial discount for paying with cash instead of a credit card.

If you go to their websites and put in your hotel's address, you can get an exact price quote. You can also email them to make sure they can accommodate your injury.

Sorry to hear of your fracture, and I hope you still have a good trip!

I wonder why?

Thank you again for all of your help. Blackberrycars had a great rate and I've scheduled that. I did inform them of the crutches.

Thanks for the help and kind words!

Sorry for your troubles, Carol, but glad to see this subject brought up. I had foot surgery and will be going to London in 2 weeks - the day after the cast is removed. I will need crutches to help me walk. Good luck with your trip!!!
