London on a budget

The Sept 22, 2015 New York Times has an informative article "A $1,000 Day in London for $100" by Seth Kugel. The reader comments give even more suggestions for seeing London without spending a fortune.

Since you did not provide the link to the article, I will do so. Here's the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/27/travel/visit-london-budget-travel.html?_r=0

Interesting article, but I found nothing new here. The threads that have gotten started here on the Rick Steves Forum are far more informative concerning how to do London on a budget, I think. Number one tip is that many of the museums are free. Number two tip is to stay away from Michelin-starred restaurants (unless you are NOT on a budget and that is exactly what you want). Third tip: stay away from expensive hotels. There. I just saved you several hundred pounds per day.

The New York Times article has a major omission--quite a flaw for a newspaper that purports to serve the culturally savvy. Under theater, why did he not suggest "Measure for Measure" or "Richard II" at Shakespeare's Globe Theater? Tickets in the yard, which require patrons to stand, go for £5! World-class theater in London's Southwark area, where Shakespeare worked and the original Globe stood, for the price of a lunch. There's a great budget idea for London.
