We are wanting to add some time into our schedule to just wander around some neighborhoods to see what cool places we happen to find. This would include pretty houses/flats, cool vintage/antique shops, off the beaten path places. Any suggestions of great areas to do that?
Notting Hills area has has pretty houses, vintage/antique shops. Mews has some really cute homes to see....St Luke’s Mew in Notting Hill, but there are lots of others near the Nottingham Hill, Bwayswater and Paddington areas.
Shoreditch and Chelsea along with Nottinghill.
Or take the 20 minute walk from Kentishtown Tube Station to Camden Lock Market. That whole area has changed drastically in the last decade. Gentrification.
While at Camden Lock stroll along the canal path to find the floating Feng Chang Princess Chinese restaurant in Primrose Hill.
Hampstead.
Abbey Road and St John's Wood.
Rebecca agree lovely area near Abbey Road Studios.
I took a London Walks 2 hour walking tour of Kensington Village which covered all of your wish list.

I'll just throw out this blog link to some self-guided walks around London. I've done the Kensington one altho I started at the end as I was staying at a hotel on Cromwell Rd and worked backwards thru about half of it. I loved going down the little mews she zigzags in and out of.

I also did part of her Belgravia walk but also did a London Walks tour thru there as well. The London Walks walk thru Chelsea was very nice, too as was Highgate one. I wish I had allowed more time after the Highgate one to explore the cemetery there.
